End of the Year Classroom Theme: Drive-In Theatre

For the last couple of years I've been finishing up our curriculum early to leave time for our theme week! My students have LOVED this and they especially love the classroom transformation on the last day of school. This year, I decided to go with a "Drive-In" theme. This was inspired by a dear retired teacher friend of mine who gave each of her student's a box to decorate into their own car the last week of school (I know... she's brilliant!).

She also made this beautiful sign for my class! Thank you!

Throughout our week we completed different math and literacy activities and decorated our "cars". Here is an example of one of the activities we so diligently worked on:

It was so sweet to see the kids take ownership of their projects. With each worksheet the students completed (I emphasized to the BEST of their ability!) they were rewarded $1 in "theatre cash". Students saved up their cash for the last day so they could purchase treats at our canteen. It was so fun to watch them as they added and exchanged their hard earned "theatre cash" for their goodies. I also charged them some cash to get into our theatre which they were excited about as well!
